Description

Historical and Folklore Museum

In a Venetian, listed building dating back to the 17th century (an example of an urban residence of the last phase of the Venetian rule), at Rethymno Old Town, you will find the Historical and Folklore Museum of the city, which was created in 1974 by Fali G. Vogiatzakis and Christoforos I. Stavroulakis, who also donated the building.

It was created for the study and promotion of Cretan tradition, through a variety of exhibits that have been put together by donations and purchases. It comprises five halls, and you will have the chance to see traditional and folklore artifacts.

There are textiles and embroiders, laces, baskets, ceramics, coins, traditional costumes and historical relics, among others.
