Archangelos, one of the biggest and oldest settlements in the island, is located in the south part of the island, about 30 km from the city of Rhodes.

This village will win you over with its architecture, as well as its adherence to tradition. The residents have managed to preserve their ancestors’ customs and still have their own unique dialect.

The church of Archangel Michael with the elegant bell tower dating back to 1845 dominates the center of the village. Very close to Archangelos you will spot the monastery of Panagia Tsampika, which includes the old and the new church. The miraculous icon of Panagia Tsampika is a symbol of faith for the locals –and not only.

Tradition lovers should pay a visit to Archangelos Folklore Museum, where pottery, hand woven textiles, embroideries and other traditional folk creations are on display.

Approximately 3 km from the village, you will find Koumelo Cave, which is famous for its amazing stalactites and is definitely worth visiting. The closest beach is Stegna, which is located 2 km from the heart of Archangelos.
