Boutari Santorini Winery

Distinguished among "The Ten Architectural Wonders of the Wine World" and "One of the World’s Most Extravagant Wineries", Boutari Winery in Santorini is one of the most awarded estates of Boutari company, while this is the first winery on the island that opened its doors to the public in 1989. 

Faithfully following the philosophy of the company –the best possible utilization of each region that produces wines with a designation of origin of superior quality–, it has played a leading role in the development of viticulture on the island as well as in the commercial development and promotion of Santorini’s wines worldwide. 

Its facilities in Megalochori village –capacity of 1500 tonnes– constitute a modern winery fully equipped with the latest machinery of international wine technology, while the wines of Boutari Santorini winery focus solely on the indigenous varieties of the island –the white Αssyrtiko, Aidani, Athiri and the red Aegean regional Mandilaria.

During your visit to the winery you can learn everything there is to know about the unique form of its vines, cultivated in the volcanic soil of the island, tour its premises, taste the award winning wines of the winery from Greek grape varieties and the internationally acclaimed sweet Vinsanto wine of the island, and taste light dishes with recipes from the local cuisine. The tour also includes an audio-visual projection in the specially designed white dome of the winery, which demonstrates the history of the island and the viniculture starting from mythology up to today!
