The newest winery in Santorini is located in the area of Vourvoulos. What initially draws our attention is its "appearance", i.e. the building’s architecture and its interior, reminiscent of a boutique retreat in the world of wine.
Its minimal design and modern perspective differentiate the winery from the rest of the island and initially impresses the modern wine lover, until the Vassaltis Vineyards labels lure them in. The winery was completed this year by Yannis Valambous, who launched this endeavour two years ago, with the oenologists Elias Roussakis and Yannis Papaeconomou completing the team.
The winery is open to visitors all year round with the specialized personnel willing to advise you fully on the Santorinian land and its relationship with the wine. You can also have a tasting of some labels produced by Vassaltis.
Specifically, Santorini Vassaltis of 2014 and 2015, Nassitis (consisting of 90% Athiri and Aidani & 10% Assyrtiko), Mandilaria and Santorini barrel make up the world of Vassaltis. There is also a single-varietal Aidani, which you can sample and/or purchase only from the winery.
