Melopita (honey pie), which the locals call it meloptha, is one of the most traditional sweets of the island that you should definitely try.

1,100 gr. unsalted mizithra or anthotiro
1 glass of sugar
6 eggs
3/4 of a glass honey
cinnamon for powdering

butter and flour for the baking pan

Work in the mixer the mizithra or anthotiro cheese with the sugar, eggs and honey. Then, pour the mixture into the baking pan, after having buttered it and powdered it with the flour. Bake the pie in a preheated oven at 200 Celsius degrees for 50 minutes. Once you take it out of the oven, powder it with cinnamon and cut it in pieces.
