The custom of Judas
The custom of Judas

One of the most famous traditions of the island during the celebration of Easter is the custom of Judas, which takes place on the evening of Easter Sunday every year either in the main square of Apollonia or in Artemonas in turns. This custom is carried out by the Cultural Association of Sifnos, whose members parade the handmade effigy of Judas in the main streets of the villages and afterwards, they burn it before the eyes of countless visitors of the island.

After the burning traditional dances follow by members of the association accompanied with violin and lute music.
