Synonymous with Skiathos, Koukounaries beach, in the south-western part of the island and 10 km away from the centre of Chora, is the most popular choice in Skiathos and has been included many times among the best beaches of the Mediterranean Sea.
It owes its name to the tall pine trees that embrace the entire length of the coastline and it is one of the spots in Skiathos that you should visit at least once, to enjoy up close the greatness of nature that characterises it. Golden sand (the beach is also known as Golden Sand) and turquoise shallow waters are among its basic characteristics.
Despite the large number of visitors, the beach has lost nothing of its pristine beauty, as those responsible have taken care of everything to be in harmony with the natural environment all around them. Wooden houses function as canteens to provide you with the necessary, while umbrellas and sunbeds available at certain places are also consistent with the natural environment.
On the coast there are water sports schools for all those who want to test their performance on one of them.
