Located in the Old Port, it attracts great interest. The lighthouse of Spetses is essentially one of two lighthouses which first operated in Greece (the second is in Kea) and it is the only one located in a residential area as opposed to being remote.
It began operating in 1837, though the buildings you see today were built in 1885. It was initially powered by oil, but in 1986 it was electrically powered and automatic. The building is 11.6 meters in height and is located on a small hill making the total height of the lighthouse 27 meters above sea level. It flares every 5 seconds.
