The Spetses Mini Marathon takes place in mid-October every year since 2011. This international race attracts athletes and non-athletes from Greece and abroad every year promoting this majestic island in the Saronic Gulf.
The Spetses Mini Marathon takes place again this year for the 5th consecutive year, on 9-11 October 2015 under the auspices of the Municipality of Spetses and the Greek National Tourism Organisation. This year it will introduce a series of anniversary events as one of the major sporting events across the country celebrates its 5 years.
With approximately 12,000 people from 20 different countries to be expected (bear in mind that in 2014 this number reached the 10,000), representatives from 9 embassies will attend the event on this majestic island in the Saronic Gulf, the Corporate running teams will exceed the 23 teams, while world famous athletes will participate in the race leaving their own mark in the event.
Overall 8 running and swimming events are included in the programme, covering a wide age range. These also include the non-racing My First Spetses mini Marathon for infants and parents and the children’s running and swimming races, the 5K and 10K races, the 25K mini-marathon and Spetses Crossing Swimming Race –the biggest open water race in Europe.
However, this year's event bears a social character as well since ambassadors of "Together for Children" Association will participate in the Gold Sponsor’s team of NN Hellas, while the team of Bouboulina's Museum will collect money and materials for the local clinic of Spetses. Finally, as part of the "Charity 4U" initiative of Holmes Place, Alexandros Patounis will attempt to swim around the island of Spetses accompanied by great Greek swimmers raising money for "Floga" and "Make-a-wish" associations.
