Located on the "Nissaki" (Islet), right around the corner from the Customs' House, the Cycladic Art Gallery hosts an array of exhibitions for its visitors. I was opened in 1994 and is housed in four warehouses in the south wing of the transit reservoirs.
These reservoirs were among the first buildings in Ermoupoli, which for many years the centre of trade. They were built between 1834 and 1839 with public expenditure plans which were created by Bavarian architect, Erlacher. Following the period between the First and Second World Wars, however, the reservoirs ceased operation.
