Town Hall
Town Hall

The jewel of Ermoupolis' Miaoulis Square, in the historic center of the island, stands the test of time to this day. Standing proud and noble, the Town Hall of Syros remains immortalized in the eyes of its visitors and in photographic lenses.

The grand three-story Town Hall, designed by Ernst Ziller, is undoubtedly one of Syros' greatest attractions. Founded in 1876 and inaugurated in 1898, it is one of the largest Town Halls in the country. Built on the axis of Eleftherios Venizelou Street (the locals refer to it as 'Ermou'), Syros' Town Hall houses the offices of Syros, Courtrooms, and other governmental agencies.

The completion of this "artwork" is to due the perseverance and dedication of Mayor D. Vafiadakis, who passed away in 1898, and whose statue graces the entrance of the Town Hall.

The Courtroom's ancient relics and paintings are sure to impress you and transport you to the past, as is the carriage of Princess Sissi located in the back entrance, the monumental staircase which leads you to the first floor, and the Town Hall's striking architecture.
