The striking neoclassical building which houses Villa Selena dates back to 1830 and simply dominates Syros' most prestigious neighbourhood, Vaporia. Located in the northeastern part of Ermoupoli, Its current structural form was added after the 1860s, but some other functional additions weren't made until the 1970s. During the 1980s this stunning building was completely abandoned, but in 1992 it was declared a work of art and a historical monument.
