1 day in Thessaloniki for singles

Thessaloniki is the city that never sleeps. The city where the fun is through the sky. The city with the countless choices for all of you who travel solo. The most suitable city to enjoy your holidays by yourself and have as much fun as if you were with someone else. Its warm and hospitable residents will make you forget that you are traveling alone, giving you the opportunity to make new friends to come back to visit it again and again.

Wondering what you can do to never get bored during the day? Start your acquaintance with the beautiful Nymph of Thermaikos and a visit to the city’s trademark, the White Tower at the end of Nikis Avenue. Climb up to the top floor and enjoy the panoramic view of the city that stretches out on your feet. A selfie with the backdrop of the waters of Thermaikos and Ano Poli will surely be included among your favourite ones.

Continue your journey to history heading for Navarinou Pedestrian Street to see the Arch of Galerius –the locals call it Kamara, and the younger ones meet here– and Rotunda just behind it.

As you head downtown, Iktinou and Zefxidos pedestrian streets –crowded spots by the youth of the city– are packed with youthful and up-to-date cafe-bars ideal for a break with a delightful and refreshing coffee. A favourite haunt here is Pasta Flora Darling. An alternative choice is the up-to-date proposals on Mitropoleos Street as well as the perpendicular Karolou Dil Street. Sinatra and Salto, respectively, are packed out around the clock.

Shopping lovers will not stop only at window shopping on the busy Tsimiski, Mitropoleos and Proxenou Koromila Streets, as their up-to-date storefronts will make you succumb to temptation once again.

The cultural session continues with a walk to Thessaloniki’s port warehouses and the famous Cinema Museum. A little further on, Ladadika is filled with restaurants and taverns, where you’ll enjoy the city’s famous cuisine at its best. One of the most popular suggestions is Zithos Brasserie, which offers its unrepentant regulars, as well as its new visitors, fresh coffee in the morning, quality food and cold beer from noon onwards.

Next in line of the things to do is to enjoy a coffee in the famous Aristotelous Square or on Nikis Avenue overlooking the waters of Thermaikos and, afterwards, take a stroll in the completely renovated Nea Paralia, along the shore of Thermaikos, wandering amid the various theme parks.

The day closes ideally with a "feast" at Athonos Square (Ouzo ston Pinaka is a good choice) or Bit Pazar with tasty snacks accompanied by abundant wine. For drinks, choose any of the various bars in the city centre, like Vogatsikou 3 and Hostel 9, which are famous for their unique cocktails, and don’t forget La Doze, with the up-to-date bar in rare tequilas.
