The beautiful city of the North has everything that a modern traveller would need, especially families. If you have three days at your disposal, you can spend pleasant family moments, getting to know several places of your favourite destination.
Start your acquaintance with the city by walking along Nikis Avenue. Make a stop at the White Tower for a quick journey in time and continue your stroll until Nea Paralia with the various theme parks. Now, it’s time for lunch, and Xalaro -here, you will enjoy value for money dishes based on original recipes with chicken- in Kalamaria is an ideal choice for a family lunch. Afterwards, a visit to Noesis Science Center and Technology Museum, with the Planetarium and the 3D Simulator being only two of the things that thrill young and old alike. Nearby, you will find Mediterranean Cosmos shopping centre, where you can indulge in a family shopping therapy. You can also take a break for coffee at one of the cafes located both inside and outside the mall. Just across from it, there is Magic Park (open Friday-Sunday), an amazing amusement park with fun games for all ages and the most fun way to wrap up you first day.
An aromatic coffee accompanied by tasty snacks at Aristotelous Square marks the beginning of your second day in Thessaloniki. While enjoying your coffee at Paradosiako, a classic value for the locals, your children can play at the large pedestrianized square. Having your batteries charged, head to Megalou Alexandrou Avenue from where the Cultural Bus line of OASTH departs, starting from the White Tower. It is truly a wonderful route, which will tour your family to the most important historical and cultural attractions of the city. Get off at Ano Poli to enjoy the panoramic views of both Thessaloniki and the waters of Thermaikos Gulf, take the necessary photos and head towards Tsinariou Square for a delicious stop at its friendly taverns. From there, head towards Thessaloniki suburban forest, also known as Seih Sou, which extends on the south and southwestern slopes of Hortiatis and features many species of flora and fauna, keeping the visitors’ interest undiminished. Round off your day at Savvikos grill on Aristotelous square, where everyone will enjoy juicy meat creations.
In Oraiokatstro, 30 minutes by car ride for the centre of Thessaloniki, the Dinosaur Park and the Mammoth Museum are one of the most interesting proposals to spend quality time with your little companions. One Salonica Mall, at the west entrance of the city, is a great choice for your last purchases. There, at Bufala Gelato, every member of your family will indulge in sweet treats (waffle, ice cream, etc.). When you get hungry, return to centre and choose one of the taverns on the paved square or on Katouni pedestrian street in Ladadika. If you want to enrich yours and your family’s knowledge regarding the country's sporting history, visit the unique Olympic Museum. Its exhibits are based on the "body, mind and soul" motto and stand out for their sporting, historical and cultural orientation. Afterwards, head east to Kalamaria, where you can dine on fresh fish and seafood in the famous fish taverns, with the Aretsou Marina in the background, and write the perfect ending to your journey.
