The Roman Forum, which is located in the northern part of city's historical center in between Olympou and Philipou streets, is a sight worth a visit during your stay in Thessaloniki. It came to light in the early 1960s and has since been continually excavated.
On the east side is the Odeon and an impressive portico, called cryptoporticus, which is associated with the worship of St. Dimitrios. The forum is square shaped and used to be larger than it is today.
In the Roman Forum Museum you will have the opportunity to admire several findings from the excavations of the site which take you through its rich history.
