Church of Panagia Faneromeni

The Church of Panagia Faneromeni is located at he Ammos district, in the southern part of Zakynthos, and it houses some of the most significant and brilliant works of art, jewellery, woodcut and hagiography.

If you are a fine arts lover, you should pay a visit to this church so that you can admire the incomparable talent of the painter Doxaras and his students, as it unfolds in the interior. The church was built in the 15th century but was destroyed during the earthquake in 1953 and was rebuilt with the same materials, according to its old form and keeping the same bell which was undamaged.

The hagiographies that decorated the interior and survived the earthquake are now at the post-Byzantine Art Museum.
